About Us

The mission of Toastmasters International:

The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

The Dawn-Breakers Mission:

We are in the business of helping people improve their skills while transforming Dawn-Breakers Toastmaster Club into a top international club.

Our success is based on a high level of communication, professionalism, knowledge and hard work.  All efforts are focused on obtaining strong member participation and visitor interest since this is how our club grows.  This is only achieved when our visitors and members are so impressed with every aspect of the Dawn-Breakers Club program that they remain or become "Members For Life."

About the Club:

Dawn-Breakers Toastmasters Club (#2771, Area #43, Division E, District #14), was chartered in October 1995. It is the home club of 2002 World Champion of Public Speaking, Dwayne Smith.

Meetings are held each Saturday from 9:30 -11:00A.M. at the New Life Community Center at Beulah Baptist Church located at  2340 Clifton Springs Road in Decatur, Georgia.  Meetings are normally not held on holidays or during a holiday weekend.

Visitors are always welcome and may attend as often as they wish.

Membership Dues:

The dues for a new member vary from $45.00 to $65.00, depending on the month he or she joins. This includes a one‑time lifetime charge of $20 for training manuals.  Dues for regular members are $45.00 every six months, payable in March and September.  The cost breakdown for new members is as follows:

·         $27.00 - Toastmasters International (T/I) - every six months

·         $20.00 - T/I training manuals (new members only)

·         $18.00 - Club dues - every six months

          $65.00 - for new members ($45.00) for regular members

The Toastmasters Club Meeting:

You will…

  • Learn to communicate more effectively
  • Become a better listener.
  • Improve your presentation skills
  • Increase your leadership potential
  • Become more successful in your career
  • Build your ability to motivate and persuade
  • Reach your professional and personal goals
  • Increase your self confidence.

A typical Toastmasters meeting consists of several prepared speeches, Evaluations, and Table Topics.  Most people participate as a speaker to receive the accolades and improvement suggestions from their evaluator.  Table Topics, another  fun, exciting part of the meeting, is designed to present opportunities to practice short, impromptu speaking which is a vital professional and leadership skill.

A Toastmaster's Promise

  • To attend Club meetings regularly;

  • To prepare all of my speeches to the best of my ability, basing them on projects in the Communication and Leadership Program manual or the Advanced Communication and Leadership Program manuals;

  • To prepare for and fulfill meeting assignments;

  • To provide fellow members with helpful, constructive evaluations;

  • To help the Club maintain the positive, friendly environment necessary for all members to learn and grow;

  • To serve my Club as an officer when called upon to do so;

  • To treat my fellow Club members and our guests with respect and courtesy;

  • To bring guests to Club meetings so they can see the benefits Toastmasters membership offers;
